The Challenge


A strategic technology reseller partner based in Taiwan identified major lineage visibility gaps impacting several key enterprise customers across the APAC region. Incomplete lineage coverage across critical enterprise technologies created limitations in governance visibility, migration planning, and operational trust within large-scale hybrid data ecosystems.


For the business, this engagement carried larger strategic importance beyond a single customer implementation. Successfully addressing these gaps was critical to strengthening product adoption within APAC, expanding enterprise footprint, and positioning the platform competitively in a rapidly growing cloud modernization market.


During opportunity and expansion discussions with the partner, a broader regional trend also emerged: increasing enterprise demand for AWS and Teradata-driven ecosystems across APAC. This highlighted the need for stronger support around technologies that would become strategically important for long-term regional growth.

 

Product Discovery & Strategic Insight


As Product Manager, I worked closely with:


  • Enterprise customers and solution architects

  • The Taiwan-based reseller partner

  • Engineering and scanner development teams

  • Sales and account leadership

to identify the highest-impact lineage gaps affecting both customer adoption and future market scalability.


The analysis revealed that several unsupported or partially supported technologies were directly contributing to lineage blind spots across enterprise workflows. The most critical gaps identified were:


  • Redshift SQL lineage support

  • Vertica Stored Procedures lineage extraction

  • Teradata FastLoad coverage


These technologies were heavily used within target APAC enterprise environments and became central to both immediate deal execution and long-term regional positioning.

 

Solution Strategy


I led the prioritisation and execution strategy for expanding scanner capabilities within the DI platform, aligning product development with both customer success requirements and broader market expansion goals.


The initiative focused on:

  • Expanding metadata intelligence coverage across high-demand enterprise technologies

  • Improving end-to-end lineage continuity across ingestion, transformation, and orchestration layers

  • Collaborating with engineering teams to define scanner requirements, lineage extraction logic, and metadata mapping improvements

  • Establishing feedback loops with the Taiwan partner for rapid validation and iteration

  • Aligning roadmap prioritisation with emerging APAC cloud modernisation trends


The effort was positioned not only as a technical enhancement initiative, but as a strategic product expansion capability supporting future regional growth.

 

Outcome & Business Impact


The initiative delivered measurable improvements across product capability, enterprise adoption, and market expansion outcomes.

Beyond solving immediate customer lineage gaps, the initiative helped position the platform as a stronger enterprise metadata intelligence solution for the evolving APAC data ecosystem.
